SCOPE OF WORKS

The Alexandria project involved a substantial extension and renovation within a constrained inner-city site, requiring innovative engineering and construction solutions to overcome a range of complex site conditions. Early works included asbestos remediation and the installation of a specialised screw piling foundation system to accommodate a large stormwater culvert running beneath the proposed extension while protecting surrounding infrastructure.

A key challenge of the build was the construction of a large elevated terrace above internal living spaces using lightweight structural systems. This required extensive waterproofing design, custom drainage solutions and carefully coordinated detailing to achieve a durable, watertight outcome while maintaining the architect’s clean aesthetic vision. The project also featured a combination of brickwork, metal cladding and timber finishes, with meticulous attention given to seamless material transitions and weatherproofing performance.

The works included extensive integration between the new extension and the existing structure, requiring careful adaptation to accommodate irregularities within the original building while delivering a cohesive finished result. Despite the technical complexity and evolving design refinements throughout construction, the project was successfully delivered, creating a highly detailed and architecturally refined home.
